Church sex scandals: Komaja’s theological and sexological views on the Catholic Church and celibacy
SEXUAL ABUSE – A CENTURY OLD ‘SYSTEMIC’ PROBLEM OF ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH
The sex scandals, which are shaking the foundations of the Roman Catholic Church since the turn of the century (USA [1], Ireland [2], Germany [3]), are nothing new. They are as old as the Church itself, or as old as the introduction of mandatory celibacy. One must never forget: the biggest (never expiated) mass sexual crime of our mankind is the sado-masochistic-torture and final burning of approx. 100,000 [4] innocent women as witches by Catholic Church! Violence, paedophilia, illegitimate and unrecognized children, abortions and cover-ups have always been, and still are, present inside the Church [5]. What is new about these mass sexual crimes is only their mass uncovering. However, the Church claims that modern ‘sexualized society’ is the cause of ‘sexual defections by the clergy’. In this way, the pattern of explanation “the others (society, women, the devil etc.) are guilty” lives on and as a result, also the ecclesiastic history of projection lives on. Basic change cannot take place…
Also the Komaja Community has several times been used as the projection screen for the unconscious soul contents of Christian shepherds and their preserver of pure ‘love’ and ‘teaching’: the Croatian Catholic weekly paper Glas koncila in its article of October 1993 saw in Komaja an expression of "Satanism”; the Catholic youth journal Mi – List Mladih saw in Komaja “Gnostic COMA-ME” (Croatian: gnostična KOMA-JA); the Evangelische Informationsstelle/Evangelic Information Centre CH saw in Komaja a community that exercises ‘Libertinism‘ and ‘free acting out of sexuality with arbitrary partners’ [6].
Today the Church is being put in the dock by international law. It has turned out to be a wolf in sheep`s clothing by perverting Jesus’ teaching “Love thy neighbour as thyself“ into “Love your reputation more than your neighbours” with its politics of covering-up sexual scandals. According to Biblical sources, Jesus himself was more radical in such cases. It reads, ‘if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.’ (Mt, 18, 6).
Finally it has been revealed: what the Church sees in other people is actually their own contents. On the contrary, the Komaja Community and its founder and head, Aba Aziz Makaja, have been internationally acknowledged and appreciated. Makaja’s work has been met with much approval at the World Congresses for Sexual Health. Consequently, four Komaja organisations that are governed by Makaja’s teaching have since became members of the World Association for Sexual Health WAS; which closely cooperates with the UN WHO. Makaja’s teachings are helping people to live happier and more spiritual (in a broader sense also more Christian) lives.
CHURCH HAS TO MEET WITH EPOCHAL OVERTHROW
According to the theologist and friend of the pope, Wolfgang Beinert, the Catholic Church has to meet with epochal overthrow. The abuse scandals will force the Church to ‘re-think sexual morality [7].In an open letter, Tübingen`s theologist and Pope`s detractor, Hans Küng, called on catholic bishops worldwide on reforms even against the will of Pope and Vatican. The Catholic Church is in its deepest crises of confidence since the reformation in 16th century says Küng [8]. The theologist demanded the convening of a new council which must introduce reforms, regardless of resistance from the Pope and Curia. Küng appealed furthermore to the bishops to stand up for the renovation of the Church in conjunction with priests and laymen.
THE ALTERNATIVE – THEOLOGY OF SEXUALITY OF ABA AZIZ MAKAJA
Our society is still not enlightened enough – neither sexually, love-erotically, nor theologically and spiritually. The media is full with comments, analysis, criticisms concerning the latest revealings, as well as the Church`s improper handling with its dark side. Still, it has not named the problem at its roots. And the root is in first line of a theological nature: Neither the Roman-Catholic, nor any other Christian Church, disposes of a theology dealing with sexuality. They cannot theologically explain sexuality – this function of the human being which can be the source of highest physical and soul fulfillment and which enables the continuity of human being as a species (of believers).
Equally: the Church requires celibacy as a discipline – however it fails to offer any education about living the celibate life and does not effectively support it [9]. The theologist and psychotherapist, Wunibald Müller, demands an education for priests that support ‘normal sexual development and accordingly the ability (. . .) for intimacy’. Muller maintains that sexuality is in itself a ‘self-evident, normal part of ourselves’, but he also can not explain, how sexuality can be allowed to unfold and become fertile in our lives as long as abdication from sexual practise is enforced [10].
Exactly this is what Makaja has been propounding for decades. Makajas Theology of Sexuality is a spiritual-scientific examination of nature and functions of sexuality – on the physical, soul and spiritual level. It offers the teaching of sexual practice with the aim of enlightenment (realization of God) and acceleration of evolution of the human being. Furthermore, Makaja’s Theology of Sexuality defines a sexual ethics which is based on the knowledge mentioned and provides for the positive development of human consciousness.
Simultaneously, Komaja as a spiritual-tantric teaching is not concerned with the modalities of sexual life of its course attendees – regardless which sexual orientation somebody may live. Komaja offers a teaching about sexuality regardless of one’s love-erotic life. It shows, how to use one`s own sexual energy – if and how much this is wanted – not only for physical and soul enjoyment, but also for spiritual development and the achievement of the highest spiritual goals. In the same way as the the yogi uses meditation or the Christian mystic uses praying to become one with God, sexual energy and sexual intercourse can be used for the same purpose. This is what Makaja teaches the people regardless of their preferred modalities of sexual life and regardless of their religious belonging or world outlook.
GURU MAKAJA AND THE KOMAJA COMMUNITY HEAL AND SAVE THE VICTIMS
Women who have been forced by their priests-lovers to commit abortion, young people who have been sexually abused by Catholic priests, people educated in an extremely puritan way, whose natural access to their sexuality has been obstructed – they asked and are still asking Makaja for help. And Makaja helps the victims as well as the priests who struggle physically and psychically due to a celibate moral which is alienating them from their nature. Several times Makaja gave a helping hand to individuals at his public lectures and media appearances! It has always been clear for him: the Roman-Catholic Church, as well as other Christian Churches, need to be helped. It must fundamentally change from a theological, sociological and sexological point of view, if it wants to come back to the ideal which Jesus has taught: ‘Love thy neighbour as thyself’ (Mk 12,29ff) and ‘Love your enemies (…) That you may be sons of your father in heaven (…) For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.’ (Mt 5,43-45)
The worldwide acknowledged spiritual master and spiritual therapist, Aba Aziz Makaja, and the Komaja institutions, are still ready to always help the victims (i.e. the abused, the abandoned lovers, the priests’ unrecognized children, all people whose sexuality is disturbed due to extreme christian sexual education), as well as all the good-willed God`s servants!

The majority of the priests questioned for my study found that their instruction for celibacy and sexuality has been inadequate. When asked which answers to their sexual concerns they get in the seminary, they said, the most frequent answers were the following: „Pray because of it.“ „Don`t think about it.“ „Do sports.“ „You simply have to accept it, it is human nature.“
